We’ve waded back into an introductory discussion with the City of Midland (COM) about installing the TopTracer Range at Hogan Park GC. The COM is interested! We believe TopTracer Range will add a new fun, exciting, and entertaining dimension to the golf facility.

It’s not your grandfather's game any longer….
Golf has been changing over the past decade - or two. TopTracer Range at Hogan Park Golf Course, we believe, would be a game changer! TopTracer Range is for everyone - from rank beginners to the most skilled golfers. Families and kids will also have fun at Hogan’s TopTracer Range. Imagine bringing your kids to the range and playing some fun games with them. For the more avid and skilled golfer, TTR can provide you with important data such as ball carry distance, total distance, ball speed, launch angle, height, curve, offline distance, shot patterns, and more. For a more casual experience, you can also select to play famous golf courses such as Pebble Beach, Torrie Pines, St. Andrews, and more. Challenge your friends to some friendly competition such as closest to the pin, long drive, or a points game. Kids can play Go Fish! Simply put, TopTracer Range makes going to the golf course and range so much more fun. Why just mindlessly whack range balls when you can see the results on a monitor, all while being shaded in a divided open-air “hitting bay” with seating for you and your friends and family. The range will also be lighted for evening/night usage. F&B service at the range will also become a welcomed feature. TopTracer Range is the same technology you’ve probably seen on TV when watching a professional golf tournament.
Additionally, the golf professionals at Hogan Park GC can utilize the features of TTR for lessons. Our proposed/pending U.S. Kids Golf Academy at Hogan Park GC can also use and have fun with TopTracer Range. TTR would be a win-win for Hogan Park Golf Course and the public.

Hogan Park Golf Course is in a unique position with a distinct advantage over any competitors that might choose to start a TTR or some similar venture. How so?…….… 1. The available space/acreage (the existing range) is already in place at Hogan. 2. Municipalities don’t pay property taxes. 3. A profit motive isn’t the primary or driving force - breaking even at any municipal golf course is a worthy goal. 4. Hogan Park GC is centrally located. Over the past decade, we’ve read and heard about a few upstarts vying to build something similar to the Toptracer Range in Midland. However, they never got off the ground. Why? We believe primarily it’s the cost of available space/acreage in and around Midland. Their business model just didn’t make sense. Too expensive to build, too expensive to operate, and too expensive for customers. The City of Midland and Hogan Park Golf Course on the other hand already have the available space and it’s perfect for a TopTracer Range. Certainly, installing a TTR like in the photos above does require capital - an investment. Our model says the investment would payout in perhaps 1.5 years or less! Friends of Hogan Park Golf Course originally recommended to the COM, in 2023, to consider installing the TopTracer Range. Interestingly, the COM's recently hired financial consultant (JJKeegan+) and their review of the golf course also recommended adding the TopTracer Range. COM officials are most interested too and we’ll meet with TopTracer Range representatives in September. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
